Deadlines
I have about two weeks to get my ass together and submit 6 original looks, plus a mood board for next spring, plus two additional looks which incorporate trends for next spring and winter, plus a written section on my favorite designers. FASHION WEEK HASN'T EVEN STARTED PROPERLY YET!! How am i supposed to do an accurate trend prediction?!
'What might be the point of this?' you may ask, oh inquisitive reader.
Well, as you may or may not know, fashion design is my core. I'm hoping to be accepted into one of Australia's most prestigious fashion courses, which i only got a reserve for last year. Hopefully, this year will bring better luck and a little more wisdom from my end.
The next two weeks will be high stress and fast paced. Hold on to your seats children!!
PS. I don't know what's been happening to me lately, but i keep getting dates and times wrong. Submissions aren't due for another month. HAHA.

Fairytale Ending
Screw my creativity, my social life and my moderately (extremely) good looks.
I work in David Jones now.
Life has become a joke.
PS. I think I'm going to have to get rid of that shopping addiction. Costume National doesn't come from an $11.60 per hour wage.

Saggy Skin & Leather
I think this is the first time in my life where i'm in want of a fashion related thing (in this case, a killer pair of doc martins or boots), and not been able to get them despite having a substantial amount of savings.
I guess in a way, it's helping me mature as a person. Speaking of which, I'm turning 18 in 11 days.
So is this what being old feels like?
PS. I still don't have anything planned for my 18th.

IM SUCH AN IDIOT!!
Okay, so you may or may not know that I'm focusing on commercial work at the moment.
I just caught up with a guy i knew from ages back, who just so happens to also be a commercial model/actor.
We were talking about agencies and what not and i realise that i should have just gotten a signed parental slip and sent my images into FRM (and every other agency there) at the beginning of the year. Then i'd move down to Melbourne, the commercial capital of Australia, and get opportunities for a whole heap of work.
Now I'm stuck in Sydney with approximately 5 commercial castings every 6 months.
I first screw up my education by pigeon-holing myself to Ultimo at the beginning of the year and now i realise i did the same for work. It is too late to change anything now because I'm going back to study in 6 months.
OK WHERES MY CHAINSAW?!

Fashion On The Park
So, i havent blogged in almost a month. Why? Well, i went and purchased myself a life! Cost me a damn fortune too! $9.95!
No, but seriously, I've been in a fashion design competition. Yes, i'm on the other side of the creative spectrum this time, designing two garments for a contest.
PHOTOS! *BAM*

I didnt win.

Someone told me...
Tuesday, March 23, 2010
It's a hard life.
It has been almost a month since my last casting. A month of lack in direction. I don't even think I'll hit my goal of doing two commercials this year.
So what do i do? Join another agency, seeing as I'm on a non exclusive agreement? Or do i go get a job in retail or fast food and live the life of every other normal kid?
PS: I got a text back from a friend who's with one of Australia's leading commercial agencies, and it appears that I'm one of the lucky ones.
Decisions, decisions...

Versace Womenswear FW10
Is it just me, or has this showseason been incredibly boring?
Versace was not exempt from that. As glad as i am with Donatella steering the fashion house back to its roots, it seems she has also readopted her old, sloppy construction styles as well as the use of dodgy fabrics. All in all, the collection looked dated and cheap.
The upcoming season is just not working for me.

This week,
my agent is supposedly sending me on my very first go sees.
Uhm.. i dont know why, but over the past week, the cover of my book has become bubble central, and it seems the pleather is peeling.
S#%$&KJDF@^&$dfuck.

Impulse Buying
$450 later...

It looks so much better in person. The detail is lost through shitty lighting + shitty camera.
It's C'N'C by Costume National. Its RRP was supposedly $1690 and it was on sale for $860 but i made a little deal with the salesperson and got it for $450. (No, not that kind of a deal!)
Anyway, I'm not too sure if it's a worthy investment or a lapse in judgment on my part...

Sifting For Gold
Your favorite insomniac has once again been staying up late and reminiscing. For the first time, I'm actually missing high school. After watching a light hearted video of a group of boys serenading the principal for Valentines day, i was reminded of it's cheerful, joyous atmosphere. Although i may have left on a sour note and friendships may fade, the feeling of such seemingly trivial events will forever be ingrained in my memory. Each and every one of them are precious pieces of gold that combine to make up the treasure trove of memories that exist in my mind...

Orgasmic Lashings of Black Leather.
Is the Versace Fall/Winter 2010 menswear collection not the epitome of perfection?

The show began with a provocative parade of mysteriously smoldering boys decked out in biker jackets paired with slim fitting pants. Despite the rough, bad boy theme, an intricate design process was seen through the delicate balance of leather, wool, metal, mesh and silk.

Cool, subtle colours mixed with looser silhouettes came crawling in midway through the show, revealing a slightly more relaxed, multifaceted side to the Versace man of next season.

Evening looks saw the reintroduction of metal mesh in scarves and shirts, and this time, not exclusively to womenswear. The fit of the tops became more body concious, with slick evening shirts and flashy singlets balanced under looser fitting jackets and coats.
With so many concepts, textures and detailing within the one collection, why wear anything else?

Bodies...
All we've ever wanted
Is to look good naked
Hope that someone can take it
God save me rejection
From my reflection,
I want perfection
Story of my life.

Déjà Vu
Here are the newly released Versace SS10 Campaigns:

As excited as i am about Simon Nessman doing Versace, the images in whole really don't do much justice to the clothing or the models.
And uh... it seems I've seen similar images before...

Versace SS01 campaign
I dont get it. Versace has really gone full circle within the last decade. It really is sort of a shame, i was looking forward to how much Donatella could push the label forward with its new found aesthetic.

Simon Nessman...
has the best walk i have ever seen on a male model.
I mean, just look at those impeccable turns.
Oh and at 00:27 in Roberto Cavalli...
Do i need to say any more?

Setting Fatties Up For Failure.
Is this the new aesthetic we want to aspire to?
I really don't understand this rebellion from our size 2 models. First of all, we are creating yet another unachievable ideal, seeing as most girls gain the majority of weight on their stomach and hips, making them pear shaped, whilst the plus models, who have an even distribution of fat cells, are hourglass shaped.
Think about it, without the aid of surgery, for most girls, achieving the bodies of these plus sized models is a lot less viable than being heroin chic.
And since when did anorexia become the leading problem in the US and Australia? Do we really need to encourage obesity any more than it already is?
Plus, considering how most new designers can't even afford a slot in fashion week, we wouldn't want them dishing out twice the funding to make samples twice the size, would we?
